Sand, sand, and more sand was the theme for the day at Koksijde. This is the tail end of the longest stretch of sand on the course, and it takes some serious watts to ride one's bike at any speed beyond a walking pace. In this vantage point the riders will come into the frame on the right and head off into the distance. At this moment we're waiting for the women's race to start. The crowd is nearing its full strength for the day, but what they're really doing is just staking out territory along the barriers for the men's race to follow.
