The day before I cornered Lance, my wife and I bumped into Tony Rominger in downtown Raleigh after the time trial. He was walking to the hotel immediately following the podium ceremony and he gave his bouquet of flowers to my wife. Nobody had any idea who he was except us. Pretty funny. About 15 minutes before I had my brief meeting with Lance, I talked to Andy Hampsten while he was waiting for the elevator. He was a class act and signed a Graham Watson photo of his L\'Alpe d\'Huez stage win. Just prior to that I met Steve Bauer and as the stage was finishing earlier I met Phil Anderson who was there in some PR capacity (maybe for Motorola??). That was quite a fun weekend to be a cycling fan.
